Biography

Prof. Dr. Hakan Karataş completed his higher education in the Department of English Language Teaching at Istanbul University. He worked as an English teacher at Kabataş Boys' High School between 1996 and 2000, as a lecturer at the School of Foreign Languages of Yıldız Technical University from 2000, and as Deputy Director of the YTU Human Resources Development Centre from 2003.

He completed a master's degree in the Department of Educational Sciences in 2007 and a doctorate in 2011. In 2016 he was awarded the title of Associate Professor in Educational Sciences by the Interuniversity Board.

From 2009 to 2016 he served as Director of the Continuing Education Application and Research Centre at Yıldız Technical University. He also served as a board member of Yıldız Teknopark Inc. and Yıldız Technology Transfer Office Inc.

In 2018 he took part as an advisor in the "Qualified R&D Personnel Training Project" of the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology.

Between 24 April and 2 July 2018 he served as advisor to the board of ASELSAN Inc., and on 2 July 2018 he was appointed Vice President for Corporate Management. During the same period he held a professorship in the Department of Business Administration at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of OSTİM Technical University.

In his role as Vice President for Corporate Management at ASELSAN he was responsible for human resources management, organisational development, knowledge management, contracts, facilities and technological infrastructure management, communications, sustainability, business excellence and quality.

He served as Founding Chair of the Board of ASİL, the ASELSAN Social Innovation Leaders Mutual Aid Association, which holds public-benefit association status.

He received the 50 Most Effective CHROs award from CREA MICE in 2021 and 2022, from Fortune in 2021 and 2023, and from Ekonomist in 2022, as well as Fast Company's Top 50 Sustainability Leaders in Türkiye in 2022. In 2023 he won first place in the "Youth Awards 2023 Most Inspiring HR Leader" category.

His book "Hayatta İş İşte Hayat" was published in 2021.

He was appointed Deputy Head of the Presidency of Defence Industries by Presidential Decree No. 3, published in the Official Gazette of 26 June 2023.
